Ik kan nu met het leuke deel beginnen: de details van de schildpad zelf. Dit voornamelijk met pastelpotloden afwerken omdat het allemaal kleine kleurvlakjes zijn.
Het is wel mogelijk dat ik de kleuren wat op elkaar moet afstemmen als het schilderij af is, we zien wel. Als het onderwerp eerder ingewikkeld is schilder ik liever op deze manier.
I can start the fun part now: the details of the turtle. I'm gonna paint small parts, in stead of everyting at once. Chances are that I have to correct some color values when I'm finished. But I prefer to paint this way when my subject is complicated.

Op de kleine foto zie je dat ik begonnen ben met de achtergrond. De eerste laag is opgezet met mijn "Polychromo's", dat zijn harde pastels.

Op de grotere foto heb ik er een tweede laag overgezet met zacht pastelkrijt: Rembrandts en enkele Schmincke.

On the small picture you can see that I started with the background. That first layer is done with my "Polychromo's", hard pastels. On the bigger picture I've put on the second layer of soft pastels: Rembrandts and some Schmincke.

Sea turtle/ zeeschildpad

Ik ben altijd al gek geweest op schildpadden. Vroeger verzamelde ik er beeldjes van, ik had er al tientallen. Het wordt dus tijd dat ik er eentje schilder. En dat zal wel lukken met deze prachtige foto als referentie...

I've always liked turtles. I used to collect small turtles in wood, stone, glass... So it's about time that I paint one. I think it's gonna turn out ok with this beautiful picture as a reference...

Dit is nog een OSWOA-projectje op velours. Deze kleine werkjes zijn leuk om te doen.
